Joy & David
Joy and David are local West Dorset parents and professionals with considerable experience in providing child care services.
We live in Weymouth with our two lovely children Aimee 18 years and Luc 16 years. We launched Sunny Days for Aimee and Luc, and other local children, who attended the original day nursery from 1995.
Our whole family are involved in looking after Sunny Days including grand parents. David was born in Dorchester and has lived in most towns throughout Dorset. There are branches of the Scadden family living in Bridport, Dorchester, and Weymouth. We have strong connections through West Dorset.
David attended local schools and started his career with Dorset Social Services supporting and developing nurseries. He went on to develop a successful child care career involving launching and running several childcare centres.
Joy originally from Portsmouth, has spent all her life involved in her family business, and developed secretarial, administrative, and business skills. Since working within child care Joy has focussed on the 'people' side of the business, building a symbiotic career in staff training and development.
Together, Joy and David have their own family, have fostered children, launched and run a children's home, and prepared sibling groups for adoption.
We enjoy cooking for friends and entertaining, walking Dorset's hills, coastline and woodlands, sailing and camping around Dorset. We are involved in Dorchester Rugby Club where Luc is a player and David a referee. Joy is an avid runner and reader.
We grow our own vegetables. We are all amateur dramatists and have introduced children, parents, and staff from Sunny Days to be involved in a local Christmas Show now to be an annual event.
We are committed to maintaining Sunny Days lovely nurturing, caring, and learning experiences.
