WEST DORSET NURSERY GROUP AGAIN RECOGNISED AS AN INVESTOR IN PEOPLE

Sunny Day Nurseries are celebrating achieving the Investor in People Standard once again, setting a level of good practice for improving performance through their people.  First recognised as an Investor in People in 2001, the nursery was successfully reviewed in 2004, and again this year.

Directors Joy and David Scadden run three nurseries, in Dorchester, Weymouth, and Bridport. Joy and David see the continued need for their particularly successful style of quality childcare, with a constantly high standard of service aimed at providing care to children in a playful, safe and happy environment where they are encouraged to develop social and personal skills.

This year, in preparation for the launch of the new Early Years curriculum, Joy and David and their staff have worked closely with the local Surestart unit and a local training provider to deliver their most comprehensive programme yet.

Commenting on the award, Director, Joy Scadden said, 'We are thrilled to be awarded IIP status once again.  With the launch of the new Early Years curriculum we have been going through considerable changes and it is important for everyone to be involved.  Being assessed successfully against the IIP standard shows us that we are on track with these changes.'

Quality South West assessor, Jonathan Saunders, commented: 'I am delighted that Sunny Day Nurseries has again achieved the Investor in People Standard. The Nursery has in place a wide range of developed business and people processes and there is a well developed planning process with a strong cascade from the overall company aims. The structured way of involving all staff, leads to clear identification of each individual's contribution to plans assessed at levels linked to OFSTED. The 'big family' culture in the Nursery respects and values people'.
