In our care your preschool child will:
- have lots of fun and attention
- have an individual care plan
- have a minimum of one carer for every eight children
- be looked after by the same carers every day and, in particular,
one keyworker will record their developmental milestones and progress
in accordance with the Foundation Stage Early Learning Goals:
personal, social and emotional development; language and literacy;
mathematical development; knowledge and understanding of the world;
physical development; creative development
- have regular written progress reports and informal parents’
evenings
- have an experienced Early Years Coordinator (qualified teacher)
who will oversee that high standards of education are maintained
at all times and liaise with foundation stage teachers in local
schools so that there is a smooth transition from preschool to
reception
- have cushions and a cosy area for resting
- be looked after in safe and secure surroundings with large display
areas for their artwork
- have a range of activities to encourage ‘learning through play’
such as reading stories and poems, drawing, listening to music,
singing, dressing up and a home corner
- have their own toilet facilities
- have toys which are developmentally appropriate – educational
software on computers, farmyards, balls, brio train sets, lego,
pegs and threading boards, wooden sorting and learning toys, art
and craft materials, puzzles and books
- have creative play activities such as sand and water, play dough,
painting, growing and cooking
- be given a structured introduction to letters, numbers, colours
and shapes
- participate in regular exercise outdoors and in our soft play
gym
- go on regular outings and trips
- when introductory school mornings begin, be collected by our
Sunny Bus at midday and brought back to Sunny Days for lunch and
an afternoon play or rest
