Training & Development

At Sunny Day Nurseries we are totally committed to developing our skills and knowledge for our own progression and, in doing so, to provide a high quality service for all our children and parent(s)/carer(s).

All staff receive an induction and two month probationary period under the guidance of a mentor. We support the work of our staff by means of regular monitoring/appraisals.

Regular in-house training is available to all staff. Training and development is reviewed annually and a new programme devised.

We aim to ensure all staff hold current First Aid certificates and provide regular training in this as well as Food Hygiene and Basic Health & Safety.

We have regular Staff Development Days for general development issues and a social opportunity.

Sunny Days works closely with Weymouth College to offer NVQ's in Child Care and Play Work at Level 2, 3 and 4. We actively encourage staff to progress to Degree level and beyond to Professional Status.  In the photograph you can see staff who achieved their NVQ's this year receiving flowers and vouchers at Sunny Days Awards Night .

Sunny Days seeks funding from the Surestart and Train to Gain and aims to offer training and qualifications at no charge to the learner.

Sunny Days has its own team of assessors led by Director, Joy Scadden.
